Watchtower Witnesses

As seen in the title of this page, I do not believe that these people speak for the Jehovah/Yahweh God of scripture. They are instead followers of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and speak on their behalf.

If you are a Witness, can you answer the following questions below in the comments section:

  • Where does scripture teach that being the “firstborn” (of anything) means first created?
  • If the Holy Spirit is called God in scripture (Acts 5:1-4), then why does the Watchtower society believe that He is just God’s active force?
  • If the New World Translation (NWT) condemns false prophesying and states that it is proof that God is not speaking through that prophet, then doesn’t this prove that the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is not speaking for God since they have given false prophecies?
  • Why does the NWT insert the word Jehovah in the New Testament when there are absolutely no Greek manuscripts that have it in there? Isn’t this playing with the text?
  • The Watchtower organization states that through good works and sincere effort only 144,000 elite JW’s will go to heaven. The 144,000 are mentioned in two chapters in the Bible: Revelation 7 & 14. By looking at the verses it is obvious that the 144,000 are literal Jews of the ancient tribes with no Gentiles among them (7:4-8). They are all males (14:4) and virgins (14:4). If the JW states that the usage of Jewish male virgins is figurative, what gives them the right to state that number of 144,000 is literal?
  • Where does it teach in the Bible that Jesus is Michael the archangel?  Why isn’t Jesus called Michael right now since He is in heaven?

  1. Hi Jason, excellent site and resource. The other day two JWs came to my door. One an obviously senior member, the other a student. They were polite and courteous. I welcomed them and explained I have a high regard for the JWs dedication and orderly lifestyle. In fact they remind me of Paul in the bible, that is when he was Saul. Dedicated and sincere… but sincerely wrong. I asked them, instead of lengthy discussions if they would answer one question after checking THEIR bible. First they checked: Revelation 1:8, Yes? Now to be sure… Rev.22:13, Yes? Then back to: Rev.1:17 and Rev.1:18. (key).
Now the Question: When did Jehovah God die?
Just to finish… Rev 22:13 and Rev. 22:16. Jesus is God.
Thank you for blessing us with this site.
    Harry
