Back of Card: The God of Heaven created this world with a purpose: to create us so we can be in fellowship with Him, bring glory to Him, and be with Him in Heaven when we leave this life. This is great news for us, but there is something that gets in the way of fulfilling this purpose: our sin. Every one of us has broken God’s laws by lying, stealing, using His name in vain, lusting (which He views as adultery -Matthew 5:24), and hating (which He views as murder – 1 John 3:15). The list could go on showing the laws of God that we have broken. Because of our sin, our relationship with God is broken. We are ‘dead’ spiritually – separated from the source of spiritual life. Also, because God is a good and just Judge, He must punish us for our crimes. He cannot let guilty criminals off the hook. We deserve to be punished in God’s prison that the Bible refers to as Hell, a place of fire and brimstone in which sinners will be “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10). The good news for you and me is that God does not want us to go to Hell. God sent His Son (Jesus) to this earth to be a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life that you and I couldn’t live, and then gave Himself as a sacrifice in our place. He died for us and was raised from His tomb by God so we can have the hope of eternal life. Because of Jesus’ death, we can be made right with God, have our sins washed away, and be rescued from Hell. No other religion offers this kind of hope! What God expects of all people is that we repent (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30-31), which means that we must leave our sins and submit to Jesus Christ as Lord. After this, God commands every person to be united with Christ in His death and resurrection by being baptized (immersed in water – Romans 6, Colossians 2:10-12). At this point, God washes our sins away, and raises us out of the state of death we are in into a new life, being born again (John 3:3, 5). Please seriously think about these things. There is nothing more important in this life than where you will spend eternity. Remember that you are not promised tomorrow. Don’t let another day go by without getting right with your Creator and submitting to Jesus Christ as Lord.
